ABOUT THE ACADEMY
MISSION STATEMENT
The Brazilian Guitar Academy promotes Brazilian Guitar through education, research, performances, networking, and supporting young artists.
In Cooperation with
FASM - FACULDADE SANTA MARCELINA
Located in the heart of Sao Paulo, the Brazilian Guitar Academy offers a course on Brazilian guitar techniques and methods taught by members of the Santa Marcelina College, a premiere Brazilian music school, along with some of Brazil's most important guitarists. Participants will take private lessons, attend masterclasses, perform solo and in ensembles, and learn about the history of Brazilian guitar. This two weeks course is intended for guitarists who looking to learn more about Brazilian guitar and Brazilian music. All education activities will take place at the Faculdade Santa Marcelina and performances will be throughout the city of Sao Paulo.
CLASSICAL GUITAR
Participants will learn about the Brazilian classical guitar history, techniques, practices, and repertoire. These topics will be covered in lectures, lessons, and masterclasses.
JAZZ GUITAR
Following the steps of Brazilian crossover guitarists, participants will learn about the Brazilian intersections of improvisation, Brazilian rhythms, classical and popular technique, and song accompaniment.

Santa Marcelina College has stood out as an important center for the Brazilian Guitar since the creation of the graduate program (specialization) Guitar: Pedagogy and Performance which, coordinated by Sidney Molina, has a team of guitarists and professors active both in on international stages as well as in academic research in different areas, such as classical guitar, Brazilian guitar and popular music, and guitar pedagogy. The Brazilian Guitar Academy will therefore benefit from the physical structure of Santa Marcelina College and from the high artistic level of its professors.

Transamerica Executive Perdizes
In the upscale Perdizes neighborhood, this polished hotel is a 10-minute walk to Faculdade Santa Marcelina, where most of the program events will take place.

With a population comparable to New York or Tokyo, São Paulo is the hub of the arts in South America, and its splendid musical scene features the some of the most important performers, composers, conductors, and pedagogues. São Paulo also is home to the top Brazilian guitarists.
